Read the eight scenes in order. The names and illustrations below belong to the fictional sample, so you can choose the story before personalizing it.

1. The Seed Island

Mia, Dad and Snowball arrived on Seed Island. A little dinosaur gardener asked them to care for one young tree near the volcano.

2. What Seeds Say

In the greenhouse, the seeds suggested different places to grow. Mia waited while Dad checked sunlight, soil and water.

3. Looking Closely

At the volcano's foot, Mia saw the tree's roots in stony ground and leaves reaching for light. She remembered where the rainwater might collect.

4. Caring for the Tree

Mia loosened the soil, Dad placed a few colored stones, and Snowball waited beside the path. They agreed to observe the tree each day.

5. The Heavy Rain

Rain moved the stones and water gathered near the tree. The family used what they had observed to protect its roots.

6. A Better Place

After the rain, Mia chose higher ground with better drainage. Dad and the gardener moved the same tree and marked its new place.

7. Strong Roots
